I picked this novel by Riley Sager as one of my Book of The Month picks and was pleasantly surprised. I read Riley's other novel Final Girls and figured I would like his new book too. I love a good Thriller!
Riley switches between present day Emma and 13 year old Emma. 13 year old Emma attends Camp Nightingale for the first time and is befriended by Vivian (she is basically the Queen B, Mean Girl of the Camp). Vivian takes her under her wing as a "little sister". Emma feels responsible for her cabin mates disappearance and she can't quit painting them. Emma is invited back to Camp Nightingale as the new art counselor and is placed back in her old cabin. As can be expected drama ensues. I really liked this book. I thought I knew the ending but was surprised that I didn't. After reading a second book by Riley Sager he is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Also October in New Orleans is one of my favorite times of year. And this is just a brief view of my favorite decorations. This home on the corner of State and St. Charles puts up punny Skeletons every year. They must think of the puns all year long because they are always different and they have sooo many. You have to check it out #skeletonhouse

Book: The Banker's Wife Author: Cristina Alger Publisher: G. P. Putnam's Sons Stars: **** A very refreshing break from the unreliable women narrator's that have been floating around the book world these days. Cristina Alger wrote a solid thriller that I didn't want to put down. I became invested in the main characters and wanted to know what was going to happen next . This story alternates mainly between two main characters Marina and Annabel. Annabel is the widow of Matthew Werner, a banker at Swiss United. Marina is a journalist working on story about a Ponzi Scheme creator that disappeared. The women don't know each other but they are tied to each other by the story. All the women in the book are sober and coherent. I didn't see the twist coming in the end. This book is a great, quick read! This book got 4 stars because there were several mixups in the chapters on which woman was the narrator but I still enjoyed the book. Did you read this book? Did you enjoy it? What is your favorite thriller!? |
